Water  Summer 2008

We grew lots of vegetables in the environmental area and learnt all about looking after them. We enjoyed eating peas and lettuce at snack time and learnt the names of lots of different minibeasts we found trying to share our plants.

We also had lots of fun time outside sun or rain. We did lots of pond dipping and enjoyed an end of term visit to The Plump Hill Environmental Centre.

Wildlife and their Habitats Spring 2008

This topic has been real hit with all the children. Inside they've enjoyed playing with various jungle animals, making a fantastic jungle collage, and learning about patterns when painting and sticking zebra and tiger stripes or leopard spots. As usual they've been learning lots of new songs and reading new stories about the topic.

Outside they used their home-made binoculars on a safari and found lots of jungle animals hiding in the forest area. As the weather has improved we are using the outside areas for lots of our activities - crafts, reading our library books, snack time etc.

Other fun activities have included dancing the 'Wiggly Woo', making our own playdough, using lots of different outside equipment, choosing toys to play with inside, junk modelling, planting vegetables and exploring the environmental area.

All about Me  Jan - Feb 2008

Our topic this term is 'All About Me'. The children have really enjoyed sharing information about their homes and families, playing in the home corner with babies and thinking about things they can do with their bodies. Despite the cold wet weather we still get outside as much as possible and the children have loved playing in the new sandpit.

Being Healthy March - April 2008
The children have enjoyed learning about their bodies, how to be fit and heathy and how to use their senses. Learning about healthy foods -with lots of cooking and tasting - was a very popular topic!

Transport, Colours and Festivals Sept - December 2007

In September our new topic was 'Transport and Journeys.' The children went on lots of local walks, investigated and drew maps and thought about all different sort of transport. We made a train and all jumped aboard the 'Tibberton Express'!

The children spent lots of time outside on the bikes and enjoyed flying paper aeroplanes and hot air balloons.

Inside they enjoyed playing with the train tracks, learning new stories and songs about transport and lots of junk modelling.

When we learned about boats the children turned into pirates and went out on a treasure hunt for gold coins!

After half term we started to think about 'Colours and Festivals'.

First it was Halloween so we dressed up and carved pumpkins. For Bonfire Night we built a pretend fire in the Forest Area and used fiery colours to make an indoor bonfire picture and glitter to make firework paintings and models.

Next we celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali and tried Indian foods, arts and crafts.

We also had lots of chances to get messy which we love!

We spent lots of time outside looking at Autumn colours including making an owl collage in the Forest Area and a trip to Newent Arboretum.

In December we thought about Christmas and practiced hard for our Nativity Service at Tibberton Church.
